Meet Ms. Runyon
Hello! My name is Ashley Runyon and I am so excited for a fabulous school year with my fifth grade class at the best school around--Edison Elementary! Go Eagles!
I am the third child of four. I have one older brother (Randy), an older sister (Heather), and a younger brother (Ryan). We are located all over the country--my brother is a musician in New York, my sister is a chemical engineer in Williamsburg, and my younger brother is a graphic design artist/musician in Maryland. My dad lives in Maryland, which is where I spent 18 years of my life! My mom is a Vice President at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, CO and my dad owns his own media company.
I always loved school growing up. I could never get enough of math, history, or science! I always saw learning as something fun and that is why I want to teach. I want children to experience the love for learning and realize that learning can be fun! :)
I grew up listening to amazing musicians thanks to the influence of my father. In fifth grade, I decided to follow in my father's footsteps and began playing alto saxophone. However, I was not the first child in the family to play an instrument. My older brother plays the alto saxophone and guitar, my older sister plays the flute, and my younger brother plays the piano. Music is a big part of our lives and we even manage to play a tune when we're all home for the holidays. :)
After I graduated from high school, I made the best decision of my life and traveled 700 miles to attend Auburn University (War Eagle!). I majored in Elementary Education, was a member of the university's marching band, rowing team, rugby team, and many other honor societies. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in May of 2013. Auburn has prepared me for the next chapter in my life more than I can ever express. I will always cheer on my Auburn Tigers. I believe in Auburn, and love it!
This is my fifth year teaching. I am so thankful for this opportunity to work with your wonderful children. This is an amazing experience and I would not change it for the world! :D
